Ceremonial grade Matcha from Japan is shaded for several weeks before harvest, boosting chlorophyll and giving it that vibrant green color. This little cup packs 2-3 times the caffeine of regular brewed tea, just like your usual coffee fix. But thanks to L-theanine, you get a calm, focused buzz instead of the jitters. Perfect for those who want energy with a side of zen.
Pour a little hot water into your bowl, swirl it around to warm the bowl and then discard the water. This warms the bowl and softens the whisk. Put 1-2 teaspoons of matcha powder (1-2 scoops with a chashaku) in a sifter to break up and clumps for a smoother tea. Pour about 2-3 oz.'s of hot but not boiling water (175ºF) into the bowl. Whisk the matcha powder with a bamboo whisk vigorously in a "W" or "M" motion until the matcha powder is completely dissolved and a frothy layer appears on the top. This takes about 15-20 seconds.
Matcha is a nourishing beverage and once prepared it should be consumed in its entirety. We recommend storing Matcha in the refrigerator.
Approximately 15 servings per canister.
