The Story of Tie Guan Yin

Legend has it that centuries ago, a humble farmer in China's Fujian Province passed a small, neglected temple each day on his way to the fields. Though he had little, he faithfully swept the temple and lit incense to honor Guanyin, the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy.

One night, Guanyin appeared to him in a dream and revealed a hidden treasure in a nearby cave. When the farmer followed her guidance, he discovered a single tea plant unlike any he had ever seen. He carefully nurtured the plant, and its fragrant leaves produced an extraordinarily smooth, floral tea.

Rather than keep the discovery to himself, he shared the tea with his neighbors. In gratitude, the tea was named Tie Guan Yin, meaning "Iron Goddess of Mercy."

Today, Tie Guan Yin remains one of the world's most treasured oolong teas. Grown in the misty mountains of Fujian, its tightly rolled leaves unfurl into multiple flavorful infusions, revealing delicate orchid-like aromas, a naturally sweet finish, and the timeless tradition behind every cup.

The caffeine content in loose leaf oolong tea can vary depending on factors such as the style of oolong, the size of the tea leaves, and brewing conditions. On average, an 8 oz cup of loose leaf oolong tea typically contains between 30 to 50 milligrams of caffeine. Some oolong teas may contain more caffeine, especially if they are made from younger leaves or are processed in a way that preserves more of the tea’s natural caffeine.
